FAQ's

1. What is the difference between Acupuncture and Dry Needling?

Acupuncture is a holistic treatment rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves inserting fine needles into specific points along the body’s energy pathways (meridians) to restore balance, promote natural healing, and support overall health. Acupuncture considers the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—to address the root cause of symptoms, not just the pain.

Dry Needling, on the other hand, is a Western technique used primarily to target muscle trigger points to relieve localized muscle pain and tension. It focuses mainly on musculoskeletal issues and often treats symptoms without addressing the wider health context.

At Linking Path, we practice authentic TCM acupuncture, emphasizing holistic care, energy balance, and individualized treatment plans. Our goal is to support your long-term health, not just provide temporary relief.

2.Is acupuncture safe?

Yes. When performed by a registered practitioner like at our clinic in Gosnells, acupuncture is very safe. We use single-use, sterile needles and follow strict hygiene protocols.

3. Does acupuncture hurt?

Most patients find acupuncture very relaxing. The needles are extremely thin — much finer than those used for injections. You may feel a slight pinch or tingling sensation, but most people experience minimal to no discomfort.

4. How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition and individual health goals. Some people feel better after 1–2 sessions, while chronic or complex conditions may require ongoing care. We’ll discuss a personalised treatment plan during your first consultation.

5. Is acupuncture covered by private health insurance?

Yes. Acupuncture is covered by most Australian private health funds under extras. If you have coverage, you may be eligible for a rebate after your treatment. Check with your provider for details.

6. Do you offer Chinese herbal medicine as well?

Yes. We provide custom herbal formulas tailored to your individual diagnosis. Chinese herbs can be used on their own or alongside acupuncture for more effective, holistic treatment.
